چکیده

This study aimed to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in lipogenic genes of northern Australian tropically adapted crossbred beef cattle and evaluate associations with healthy lipid traits the Longissimus dorsi (loin eye) muscle. The hypothesis tested was that there are significant between SNP loci encoding for fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4), stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) synthase (FASN) human health beneficial omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated acids (ω3 LC-PUFA) within loin eye muscle cattle. Brahman, Charbray, Droughtmaster steers were fed on Rhodes grass hay augmented desmanthus, lucerne, or both, 140 days sampled intramuscular fat (IMF), melting point (FMP), composition. Polymorphisms FABP4, SCD, FASN effects identified next-generation sequencing. GG genotype at FABP4 g.44677239C>G locus associated higher proportion linoleic than CC CG genotypes (p < 0.05). Multiple comparisons SCD g.21266629G>T indicated TT had significantly eicosapentaenoic, docosapentaenoic, docosahexaenoic Significant correlations 0.05) IMF, saturated monounsaturated observed. These results provide insights into contribution deposition marker-assisted selection improvement meat-eating quality, emphasis alternate sustainable sources ω3 LC-PUFA, tropical cattle, hence an acceptance hypothesis.

Omega-3 Long Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids as Sensitizing

The efficacy of chemotherapy depends on sensitivity and intrinsic or acquired drug 14 resistance of cancer cells. The n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LCPUFAs) are 15 considered chemosensitizing agents and revertants of multidrug resistance by pleiotropic 16 mechanisms. The specific mechanisms are not fully understood, but nowadays, it is widely accepted 17 that there are a compl...

Australian children are not consuming enough long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids for optimal health.

OBJECTIVES To determine children's polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) intakes, compare these with adequate intake and adjusted suggested dietary targets, and determine if intakes between children of different body weight and physical activity levels differed. METHODS The necessary data files were obtained from the Australian Social Science Data Archive and were merged for 4486 children 2 to 16...

Dietary intake of long-chain -3 polyunsaturated fatty acids: contribution of meat sources

bstract Objective: We examined the relative contributions of meat and fish to the dietary intakes of long-chain -3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCn3PUFAs). Methods: A database detailing 4550 foods and 4298 recipes recorded in the 1995 Australian National Nutrition Survey (NNS95) was updated with new fatty acid compositional data then used to determine intakes from 24-h dietary recalls of 13 858...

Opposing Effects of Omega-3 and Omega-6 Long Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids on the Expression of Lipogenic Genes in Omental and Retroperitoneal Adipose Depots in the Rat

This study aimed to determine the effect of varying dietary intake of the major n-3 PUFA in human diets, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA; 18 : 3n-3), on expression of lipogenic genes in adipose tissue. Rats were fed diets containing from 0.095%en to 6.3%en ALA and a constant n-6 PUFA level for 3 weeks. Samples from distinct adipose depots (omental and retroperitoneal) were collected and mRNA expressi...

Evaluation of the Relationship between Endometriosis and Omega-3 and Omega-6 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids

Background: Endometriosis is a common chronic inflammation causing major problems including infertility. The role of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids as their potential anti-inflammatory effects in endometriosis needs to be further explored. The objective of this study was to compare serum phospholipid fatty acid profile in endometriosis patients with controls, and to explore the correlation of ...
